Well, on issue 15 now, and I must say that I’m really glad that I picked up Civil War as one of my first titles in getting back into comics.
Being so rooted in real life politics, and dealing so closely with the ideals behind a superhero, and the way the series has been collected. It didn’t begin at Civil War 1, it didn’t begin at Spider Man 529, not for everyone, at least. Each hero is sucked in slowly, from their own comic, into the fray. Each one comes into it in a different way. From wolverine, working at a disaster site, to spider man, almost coerced into the conflict by iron man.
Already seeing Spider Man unmask himself, in front of everyone, it makes you wonder after Civil War, how are they gonna come back from this? Short of a reboot, how do they rectify this?
Each side is making valid points, and as of now, I have to side with Captain America and the others. I don’t think it’s right for the government to unmask heros. The government can sympathise with the plight of the mortal, but they cannot sympathise with powers they have never held in their hand, been in the conflicts these heros face, or been on the receiving end of the cruelty of super villains. It’s not their loved ones at stake in this.
I know I’m late to the party on civil war, but seriously, this is some compelling shit. I’m practically being dragged through the issues by my eyeballs.
Funny how this is becoming a play by play of civil war. I didn’t expect it to be, but no one else cares to hear me sperg about it endlessly.
